Brian Pierchala
Sherry Sonneborn Professor of ALS Research - 2019
Brian Pierchala earned his B.S. from Oakland University in 1994. Upon graduation, he continued his education at Johns Hopkins University where he earned his Ph.D. in 1998. He joined the Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) in 2019 as the Sherry Sonneborn Professor of ALS Research and as a professor in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology.
Pierchala’s laboratory investigates the development and regenerative capacity of peripheral axons, such as motor axons, with a focus on motor neuron degeneration and death due to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
