David V. Feliciano

J. Stanley Battersby Professor of Surgery - 2013 - 2009

David V. Feliciano
Dr. Feliciano received a B.S. (Biology) from Georgetown University in 1966 and his M.D. (Alpha Omega Alpha) from Georgetown University School of Medicine (1970). He completed residency training in surgery at the Mayo Clinic, a limited trauma fellowship at Detroit Receiving Hospital/Wayne State University School of Medicine, and a vascular surgery fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas. He is Board-certified in Surgery and has been Board-certified in Surgical Critical Care. Dr. Feliciano is a senior surgeon with extensive experience in all forms of general surgery, especially endocrine surgery. In addition, he is an expert in the management of injured patients, especially those requiring operations for vascular trauma and abdominal trauma. He has made seminal contributions in the use of surgeon-performed arteriography, use of intraluminal vascular shunting, techniques of vascular repair, use of prosthetic grafts in vascular trauma, perihepatic packing, splenorrhaphy, and damage control laparotomy. He is a Co-Editor of the textbook TRAUMA, Seventh Edition (2013), is Associate Editor of "The American Surgeon," has been President of 7 surgical societies, has been a Director of the American Board of Surgery, has been Chair of the Advisory Council for General Surgery (American College of Surgeons), and has received 36 teaching awards from surgical residents and medical students. He is married to Grace S. Rozycki, MD, MBA, Willis D. Gatch Professor of Surgery and Executive Vice-Chair, IU Department of Surgery, Indianapolis.
