Dr. Yune completed an M.D. degree with honors in 1956 at Severance Medical College, Seoul, Korea., an internship at Presbyterian Medical Center, Chonju Chollapukto, Korea, and a residency in surgery at Presbyterian Medical Center in 1960. He pursued a residency in radiology at Vanderbilt University Hospital in 1960-63 as well as instructorship in radiology. Before coming to IU School of Medicine in 1971 as Professor of Radiology, he was Chief of Radiology at Presbyterian Medical Center, Korea and was on the faculty of Vanderbilt University.
Dr. Yune was an editorial consultant and manuscript reviewer for American Journal of Roentgenology, Radiology, American Hospital Formulary Service, and Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology. He is on the Editorial Advisory Board of Yonsei Medical Journal.
Dr. Yune was a member of various professional societies including Radiological Society of North America, American Medical Association, Indiana State Medical Association, American Roentgen Ray Society, American College of Radiology (Fellow), Indiana Roentgen Society, Association of University Radiologists, American Society of Head & Neck Radiology, Korean Medical Association, and Korean Radiological Society of North America.
His awards and honors include Editor's Recognition Award, Radiology, 1986-91; listed in American Men and Women in Science, 16th edition, 1986; listed in International Men of Achievement, 1981; Who's Who in the Midwest, 1980-81, 1992-93; and an additional 17 honors from various medical organizations, including the Gold Medal from the Indiana Radiological Society in 1999.
Dr. Yune taught numerous courses and seminars in radiology each year as well as presentations at professional meetings. He held numerous visiting professorships and presented guest lectures since 1976. Yune was a co-investigator on externally funded research grants. He was Director, Residency Program, Department of Radiology and served on various university and hospital committees.
