Wayne L. Winston
John & Esther Reese Professorship - 2009 - 2013
Wayne Winston is a professor in the Operations and Decisions Technology Department. He has been teaching at the Kelley School of Business for twenty-eight years. He was inspired to teach by his father, who was also a teacher and by his love of operations research, which is mathematics applied to business problems. He teaches K510, Advanced Decision Models, an elective for MBA students.
Prof. Winston believes his course enables students to gain the skills and techniques they will need in order to solve problems in the real world. Through his use of fun, interesting, and real examples, he is able to show the practical application of the theory and concepts that his students have learned. He believes that if examples are constructed properly, students will learn the material and be able to carry with them the techniques to solve similar problems. His advice for those just starting out in college teaching: be yourself and don't forget your sense of humor.
