Jeffrey C. Isaac is James H. Rudy Professor of Political Science, and Director of the Center for the Study of Democracy and Public Life, at Indiana University, Bloomington. His books include Democracy in Dark Times (Cornell University Press, 1998), Arendt, Camus, and Modern Rebellion (Yale University Press, 1993), Power and Marxist Theory (Cornell University Press, 1987), and the forthcoming The Poverty of Progressivism: The Future of American Democracy in a Time of Liberal Decline (Rowman & Littlefield, 2002).
He has published over fifty scholarly articles and essays, and he writes regularly for Dissent magazine and serves on its editorial board. He also serves on the Steering Committee of Bloomington United; the Advisory Board of the Safe and Civil City Office of the City of Bloomington; and the Indiana University Sweatshop Advisory Board.
