Sharon P. Andreoli

Dr. Sharon Andreoli earned both her B.S. and M.D. from Indiana University (IU) in 1973 and 1978, respectively. She completed her residency at the IU School of Medicine (IUSM) in 1981 and later completed a fellowship at the University of Minnesota.
Andreoli began her professional career at IU with a fellowship at the IUSM. After completing her fellowship in 1984, she continued her career at the IUSM within the section of pediatric nephrology. In 2004, she became the Section Director of Pediatric Nephrology. She served in this role until June 2017. During her career, Andreoli has also served and represented the department and IUSM nationally and internationally. Through serving on the IUSM Conflict of Interest Committee, Andreoli was a strong voice for the promotion of the department’s clinical and tenure-track faculty. She served as the chair of the Department of Pediatrics Promotion Committee for Clinical Faculty for 18 years. In 2008, she became the chair of the IUSM Promotion and Tenure Committee. She is also the Bryon P. and Frances D. Hollett Professor of Pediatrics and the Director of the division of Pediatric Nephrology at James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children.
Nationally, she has served on 10 different committees of the National Kidney Foundation. In 2016, she was awarded the National Kidney Foundation of Indiana’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Andreoli has served as a councilor and secretary-treasurer of the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology, and she is currently the President of the ASPN. Dr. Andreoli has also served as a councilor and assistant secretary for the International Pediatric Nephrology Association, on the Board of Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO), and as an associate editor of the American Journal of Kidney Diseases. She has also served on the editorial boards of Kidney International, Pediatric Nephrology, and American Journal of Physiology: Renal, Fluid and Electrolyte.
