Shadia Jalal

Dr. Shadia Jalal earned her M.B.B.S. and M.D. from the University of Jordan in 2022 and 2006, respectively. She completed her internal medicine residency at the Indiana University School of Medicine in 2006, and she later completed a fellowship in hematology and oncology at the IUSM in 2009. She began her teaching career at the IUPUI Department of Medicine as an assistant research professor and assistant professor of clinical medicine. She was promoted to associate professor in 2018. In 2021, she earned the additional, honorary title of Lawrence H. Einhorn Scholar in Oncology.
Jalal’s specializations include esophageal and lung cancer. Her clinical interest is in thoracic oncology and the management of all forms of lung cancer. In her lab, she primarily conducts research on the repair capacity of DNA and its impact on patient response to chemotherapy.
Throughout her robust practicing, teaching, and researching career, Jalal has published numerous medical articles in notable publications and libraries, including the National Library of Medicine.
