Dr. Alan Ladd is a tenured Professor of Surgery in the Department of Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis and received his General Surgery training there. He completed subspecialty training in pediatric surgery at Riley Hospital for Children, also at the Indiana University medical center. Since completion of training in 2002, Dr. Ladd has been an attending surgeon at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health and various other affiliated, metropolitan hospitals with children’s services in Indianapolis.
Dr. Ladd has strong academic interests in undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate medical education. He has served numerous roles in medical education at the IU School of Medicine including chair of the curriculum council, and currently serves as clinical instructor for several medical school elective courses in surgery. He currently serves as associate program director for the Pediatric Surgery Fellowship program. In 2020 he assumed the role of Division Head of the pediatric surgery division at Riley Hospital, and is the endowed Anna O. Healey Chair of the division.
Dr. Ladd leads outreach efforts for surgical care in the northeast portions of Indiana through clinics in Muncie and Fort Wayne to improve access to surgical care.
