Mark W. Turrentine earned his M.D., with a specialty in Cardiac Surgery, from the University of Kansas' School of Medicine. He finished his residency at Indiana University's School of Medicine, as well as his fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
Dr. Turrentine is a Professor of Surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine, the director of the IU Health Heart Transplant program and the Mechanical Circulatory Support at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health/IU Health Methodist/IU Health University hospitals, and is the Surgical Co-Director of the Clarian Heart Transplant Program.
Dr. Turrentine specializes in adult and pediatric Cardiac Surgery, and is the author of over 80 publications. He maintains a continued interest in Pediatric and Adult Congenital Heart Defects, Heart Valve Surgery, Mechanical Heart Support, Heart & Lung Transplantation, and Limited Access Surgical Approaches. He is a member of the International Society for Heart & Lung Transplantation, the American College of Surgeons, the American Association for Thoracic Surgery, the Congenital Heart Surgeons' Society, The Society of Thoracic Surgeons, and Thoracic Surgery Directors Association.
