Norbert Hajos
Gill Chair - 2021
Norbert Hajos earned his Ph.D. from Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary, and his Doctor of Sciences (DS.c.) from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest, Hungary. He joined the Indiana University (IU) faculty in 2021 as a professor and Gill Chair of the Psychological and Brain Sciences Department.
Before joining the IU faculty, Hajos served as the head of the laboratory of Network Neurophysiology at the Institute of Experimental Medicine in Budapest, Hungary from 2009 to 2021. He also formerly held teaching positions at the University of Helsinki in Finland and the Medical University in Vienna, Austria. Neuroscience is Hajos’s primary area of study, and his research spans topics related to cellular neuroscience, system neuroscience, and neuroanatomy.
Throughout his professional career, Hajos has received several awards from numerous countries. He earned a Wellcome Trust International Senior Research Fellowship (UK), the Cortical Explorer Price (USA), a NATO Science Fellowship, a Bolyai scholarship (Hungary), and many more. Hajos has also authored several scientific publications that have appeared in notable publications, including J Neurosci, Front Neural Circuits, PLOS Biology, and more.
