Muhammad T. Idrees
Louis Y. Mazzini Professor of Pathology - 2020
Dr. Muhammad T. Idrees earned his F.S.C. from Government Degree College in 1988. Upon graduating, he continued his education at the University of the Punjab where he earned his M.B. and M.S. in 1995. He completed his residency and fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center. He joined the Indiana University (IU) School of Medicine faculty in 2008 as an assistant professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. He was promoted to associate professor in 2014 and full professor in 2020. In July 2020, he earned the additional, honorary title of Louis Y. Mazzini Professor of Pathology. At the IUSM, Idrees also serves as the vice chair of clinical pathology, the director of IU Health Pathology Laboratories, and the director of Immunohistochemistry Laboratories.
Idrees has clinical experience at IU Heath, the Eskenazi Hospital, and the Roudebush Veteran Administration Medical Center. His areas of research include surgical pathology, cytopathology, and urologic pathology.
Idrees is a member of several prestigious professional organizations, including the American Society of Cytopathology, the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America, the Cytopathology Society of Indiana, and more.
